Shauna: The Garden Apron

I love all the post from my sisters! They are such wonderful mothers.  I've been so blessed to have not only a wonderful mother, but a loving mother-in-law.  Both of these woman have been such a blessing to me as a young mother, and incredible grandmothers to our boys.  I could not ask for better examples of faith, strength, patience, kindness and love.  I love these woman so much!! It just happens that both of these woman like gardening, so I decided to make them garden aprons, and this is how I did it.

The Garden Apron Tutorial...
Supplies needed:
-2 ft x 2 ft cut of canvas fabric
- 18 in x 22 in cut of wool felt
- 2 yards of belt

1.  Lay the felt on top of the canvas (lining up the bottoms) and position it so there is about 1/2 inch space on either end, but still a few inches at the top.  Pin the bottom of the wool and the canvas together and sew.
2.  Turn inside out (so the hem is hidden) and lay the felt flat on the canvas again.  Sew the top end of the felt flat onto the canvas (no need to turn under because the felt wont fray), leaving a few inches of canvas above the felt.
3.  Fold bottom and top of felt together so it matches up.
4.  Flip the front (the side you've been working on) onto its back, keeping felt folded. Pin the felts raw edges (two separate parts) together. You are making a big pouch and should start to see it come together now.  Sew a zigzag stitch on raw edges.
5.  Turn the zigzag stitch under twice and sew a straight stitch.  Repeat on other side.
6.  Add the belt by sewing a zigzag stitch at the top of the apron (where the belt will go) and then turning under, placing the belt on top, and folding the belt and top of apron over once.  Sew a square over the circumference of belt.  You're almost done.  Now you need to figure out how large you want your pockets.  When you figure that out, just sew straight vertical lines over the pouch.  I sewed 3 lines, and have 4 different size pockets.

+and yes that is suprize ball with a 'z' because it's that craZy.
